Finding My True Focus

Finding My True Focus
Double door | full-stack ifunny.co

It’s been 5 years since I started my journey as a Full-stack developer, working across both backend and frontend technologies. On the backend, I’ve primarily worked with Golang and Express, while on the frontend, I’ve experimented with a wide array of frameworks—React, Vue, Next.js, Remix.js, Svelte, React Native, and even Flutter.

Yes, you read that right! I’ve dived into so many frontend frameworks, both for web and mobile, that my head is spinning just thinking about it. From my main job to freelance gigs, to side hobby projects, I've explored everything I could get my hands on. Despite trying all these technologies, I’ve never quite found that one perfect, full-featured framework that feels like home. But the thing is, I’ve always been that person whose hands itch to try everything out. The excitement of learning something new has been my fuel.

But, as with anything in life, there comes a time when the thrill starts to wear off. After spending so much time immersed in UI frameworks for the web, I began to feel this heavy sense of fatigue. It wasn’t the usual “I need a break” feeling; it was deeper than that. I started questioning my love for web frontend development entirely. The spark was fading. That’s when I found myself gravitating towards Svelte. Even though it was new to me, I immediately fell in love with how it worked—its simplicity, the way it streamlined things. It almost felt like I had found the one. But, like all good things, that too began to wear off.

After some soul-searching, I realized my issue wasn’t with the frameworks themselves—it was with the type of work I was doing. I had grown tired of frontend web development altogether. I found myself more drawn to working on the backend and, more recently, to mobile app development. The excitement of building apps that people can carry in their pockets sparked a new kind of joy in me, and that’s where I want to focus my energy now.

Right now, I’m deeply invested in mobile development, with Flutter being my main focus. It feels like this might be the turning point in my career—a shift from being a Fulls-tack developer to specializing in mobile development. This feels like my calling now, and honestly, it’s been refreshing to narrow down my focus.

For my next side project, I’m working on something that feels more personal to me: a finance and budgeting app. I’ve always been fascinated by personal finance, and I think this is the perfect project to wrap up the year. But why am I creating this app? What’s driving me to build something for personal budgeting? Well, that’s a story for another day—something I’ll dive deeper into in my next blog post.

So, where does this leave me? I guess you could say I’ve finally found my center, and for now, that’s in the world of mobile development. Let’s see where this new chapter takes me.

This is my very first post, and I know it’s not the most exciting one, but I’m just getting started! Writing feels like a new challenge for me, just like learning new frameworks. But hey, I’m committed to keep trying and improving, so stick around for more.
